Saving Water uses the global water footprint standard originally developed in 2004 by Dr. Arjen Hoekstra at UNESCO-INE. The Water Footprint concept is now managed by the Water Footprint Network, a global collaboration of businesses, civil societies, multilateral organizations and academia to promote sustainable and equitable global water use and management.
